I've browbeaten on the ali casing as hard as I dare with a hide mallet - nil.

Anyone got any smart ideas how I can go it out before I flake the drill!?

Mine was not pulling dorsum far enough to release equally it had something stopping information technology. I pushed it hard against the open vice jaws to get more pressure level and the bit came out with a good pull. Spotter this video it might help.

Yup - mines in the vice at the mo (the drill flake) with me beating on the hammer.

You start doubting yourself - its merely pull-dorsum-the-collar-and-pull-out-the-drill-fleck, right?

As mentioned above, the drill shanks needs lubricating every so oft, I use grease though.

Grrr. Al.

Yous only pull the back collar, non the whole chuck. Spotter the video, he explains information technology pretty well although in a foreign linguistic communication :D

Yup, they need a smear of moly paste, MS3 or similar.

Arg. Can't get the bit out. Can't become the components of the chuck out while the fleck is nonetheless in the chuck!

Might accept to cut the chip off close to the chuck, and so dismantle the chuck, then go the last part of the bit out...

It has always been fine before...

Turn it with the drill bit pointing up and dribble a scrap of releasing agent down it..exit overnight and endeavour once more...good luck

Might be a burr but they don't do that often. I've had stuck ones before due to lack of greasing but I've besides been caught out by the side handle existence also far frontwards just stopping the collar from pulling back far plenty.

equally stated above it volition be muck behind the little retaining bearings...loads of wd40 with a straw to flush out and it will come up,when you get it out so yous can make clean the within of chuck goodo. BTW i check the grooves on my SDS bits to proceed the burs off the edges by rubbing them with emery newspaper and they slide in and out real smooth;)

What brand of drill is information technology? We have a couple where the side handle works forwards and stops the chuck pulling dorsum to release the bit?

  • #19

i was once tasked with getting a broken bit out of a drill

the bit had broken and so burred over the one peice through hammering onto it

after a fair while of hammers and vices i ended upwardly cut the chuck to get the bit out which then resulted in scrapping a good drill as no spare parts were available
